Christmas Ideas

With Christmas approaching now is the time to start your shopping.  We have a wide range of gifts ideal for all ages.  Check out the Giftware page for some ideas.  Choose your Christmas decorations from our large selection  including wreaths and hanging ornaments in both traditional and modern colours and designs.  While blue is increasing in popularity this Christmas, many customers prefer the traditional red, green and cream decorations.

This year we are offering the Nordic range of hanging ornaments designed by Danish designer Jette Frolich renowned for her uniquely elegant and imaginative designs.  The range includes dancing fairies, icicles, stars and hanging hearts.  All are delicately made from tracing paper, foil and metal.  Each item is beautifully package to make it a unique gift or hang them from your tree to bring a touch of Scandinavian living into your home.

Fair Trading  Program

Fair Trading Programs are designed to enable communities in the developing world to break out of the poverty cycle that engulfs many of them.  The program provides a fair price for products made using their traditional handcrafts.

Design Framing has a unique range of ethically produced hand-made gifts.  When you purchase these products you are “Empowering the Poor” to make a positive impact in their communities.   Treads of Yunnan is a thriving economic outreach program which is impacting the social, intellectual, physical and spiritual well-being of woman in the province of Yunnan, China.  The women are able to use their skills in indigenous handiwork to make beautiful embroidered decorations, accessories and homewares.  These include cross-stitched cushions, hanging ornaments and Christmas cards containing cross-stitched bookmarks.

From South Africa we have a raku pottery range of animals which have proved quite popular.  The range of silver and bronze pendants and earrings are striking in their designs.  Recently we have added a range of colourful baskets woven from telephone wire.  All these products are sourced predominately from communities in Africa who are involved in job creation projects or community self help groups.
